Independence with Structure

A Different Way to Complete High School

Cambridge qualifications. Independent learning. Structured support.

FLi is a structured, self-directed Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level pathway for independent learners in Namibia and South Africa. We provide the pathway, the structure and the support. The learner owns the work.

Need Exam Preparation?
An independent FLi learner working at a desk with a laptop

Not every learner thrives in a conventional school environment.

Families come to FLi for different reasons. The common thread is a need for a credible high-school path that is not a conventional classroom.

More flexibility

A conventional school day does not fit every learner, every family, or every season of high school.

Greater ownership

Some learners do better when they can take responsibility for the work, rather than waiting to be moved through it.

A different environment

Not every young person thrives in a crowded classroom, a fixed timetable, or a one-size social setting.

Future independence

University and work expect self-direction. Waiting until then to practise it is a late start.

FLi exists for families looking for a credible alternative — not an easier one.

Cambridge, structured around the learner.

IGCSE, AS Level and A Level are planned as a sequence — according to the learner's stage and destination, not as a guaranteed calendar.

  1. 01

    IGCSE

Build subject foundations and exam habits.

  2. 02

    AS Level

Deepen selected subjects with greater independence.

  3. 03

    A Level

Prepare for university and other next destinations.

Cambridge International controls syllabuses and exams. FLi provides the pathway, planning, and support. This is a planning sequence, not a guaranteed timeline.

Independence with structure

We provide the pathway, structure and support. The learner owns the work.

The learner owns

  • Daily study and the quality of the work
  • Asking for help before a problem becomes a crisis
  • Keeping to the agreed pace and deadlines
  • Showing up for exams they have prepared for

FLi provides

  • A Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level pathway
  • Subject planning and a clear structure
  • Adult guidance when it is needed
  • Parent visibility without turning parents into teachers
  • Learning Gatherings in Windhoek and Cape Town

How FLi works

A clear sequence so families are not asked to enrol before they understand the model. Step through it.

Assess

A family Readiness Assessment looks at independence, support, and whether FLi is a serious fit.

Who FLi is for

The model is demanding on purpose. A good fit is better than a full classroom.

A strong fit

  • Learners who can work independently for useful stretches of time
  • Families who want Cambridge IGCSE, AS or A Level rather than a conventional school day
  • Parents who can support routines without becoming the teacher
  • Households willing to plan exams with an authorised Cambridge centre

Not currently the right fit

  • Families who need a full-time classroom and a conventional timetable
  • Learners who cannot yet take responsibility for daily work, even with support
  • Anyone who needs FLi to register exams, award qualifications, or guarantee university entry
  • Last-minute exam coaching only — see Exam Preparation instead

The goal is not to enrol every learner.

Take the FLi Readiness Assessment

Start with an honest look

The Readiness Assessment summarises your own answers. It is guidance, not a score, ranking, or admission decision.

Assessment areas

  • Independence and work habits
  • Family support and routines
  • Subject stage and destination
  • Willingness to plan external exams

Likely a strong fit

The answers point to a learner and family who can work inside this model.

Needs a careful conversation

Some parts fit. Others need to be discussed before anyone enrols.

Probably not the right model

A conventional school, more support, or Exam Preparation may be the better next step.

Learners working independently during a FLi Learning Gathering

Learn Anywhere. Gather Intentionally.

Independent study is the core of the model. Learning Gatherings are scheduled touchpoints — not daily school, and not permanent Learning Centres.

  • Focused independent work alongside other learners
  • A place to ask questions and stay connected
  • Scheduled touchpoints in Windhoek and Cape Town

University expects independence. Why wait until university to learn it?

Cambridge Qualification

IGCSE, AS and A Level are internationally recognised qualifications awarded by Cambridge — not by FLi.

Independent Learning

The habits universities expect — planning, persistence, asking for help — are practised before arrival.

Future Readiness

Subject choice is planned toward a destination. Admission is never guaranteed by FLi or by any pathway page.

Parents stay in the picture — without becoming the teacher

FLi is a structured, self-directed pathway. Some families use it alongside home education arrangements; we do not categorically call FLi homeschooling.

Visibility

Parents can see the plan, the next exam conversation, and where support is needed.

Communication

FLi stays in the picture so families are not left to guess how the pathway is going.

Early warning

When work slips, the aim is to notice it early — not after an exam series has passed.

Support boundaries

Parents support routines and a workable study space. They are not asked to become the teacher.

For Parents

Real learners. Real journeys.

Family stories appear here when they are verified.

We do not publish invented names, quotes, or outcomes. Until families give permission to share a real account, the honest next step is a conversation about your own child.

Exam Preparation

Know where you stand before the exam. This is not the Cambridge high-school pathway — it is specialist support for learners who need a clear picture of gaps, practice, and feedback.

  1. Diagnostic
  2. Identify Gaps
  3. Practise
  4. Feedback
  5. Exam Ready

Before choosing a school, choose the right learning model.

Start with readiness. If the model still looks like a fit, book a Family Pathway Consultation. Enrolment comes after the pathway is clear.
