Our Story
The Future Learning Institute was born from a simple yet powerful belief: education should serve the student, not the other way around. Founded by two visionaries—Christo Nicholls, a lecturer in electrical engineering at Stellenbosch University and PhD candidate, and Carven Izaks, an entrepreneur with deep experience in payment processing and retail innovation—FLI represents a bold reimagining of the educational journey.
Christo brings hands-on academic excellence from both high school and tertiary sectors, alongside groundbreaking research that is transforming Africa's electricity landscape to make power affordable and accessible to all. His work demonstrates the real-world impact of combining rigorous scholarship with practical innovation. Carven contributes entrepreneurial vision from the fintech and retail sectors, understanding how systems can be redesigned to truly serve their users.
Together, they embedded themselves—along with their own families and children—in this alternative educational journey.
